Terms of Service
Effective 2026-10-14. Privacy
The short version
- Zap! is in early access: free for now, provided as is, and it may change.
- An engineer must review every routed board, with your own DRC, before fabrication.
- Your designs stay yours. We use them only to run your job.
- Keep your key secret, stay within the limits, and do not copy or attack the router.
1. Who and what
Zap! (zap.mutual.solutions, its API, MCP server and command-line client) is run by Mutual Solutions, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("we"). Using Zap!, yourself or through an AI agent, means you accept these terms and the Privacy page, for your organisation too if you use it for one. You must be 18 or older. A separate written agreement with us about Zap! (for example as a platform) controls where it differs from these terms.
2. Early access
Zap! is free during early access. Features, limits (guide, section 6) and availability may change or stop, and we promise no uptime.
3. You check every board
Zap! adds tracks, vias and copper pours to a placed board. It does not place parts, check schematics, tune lengths beyond differential-pair skew, guarantee impedance, or sign off for manufacturing. A clean report does not mean the board is ready to build. Before fabrication an engineer must review every routed board, and you must run your own DRC and the checks your fab and product need. If an AI agent uses Zap! for you, you are responsible for what it sends and for checking what it gets back.
4. Your designs
You keep all rights in the files you upload and in the routed board. You let us store, copy and process them only to run your job and give you its results (including the reports and pictures you ask for), for as long as the Privacy page says we keep them. We do not use your boards to train or develop our software unless you agree in writing (email is enough) for that board; the consent_training setting alone is not that agreement.
You confirm you have the right to upload each file. Do not upload personal data or export-controlled content; the export rules for your designs are your responsibility.
5. Our software
We own Zap!, the router and their improvements. These terms let you use the service and give you no other right in it. The downloadable command-line client (zap.py) and MCP server (zap_mcp.py) are offered under the MIT licence; that licence covers those two files only.
6. Keys and acceptable use
You are responsible for what happens under your key or account. If a key leaks, tell us at once and we will replace it. Do not:
- share or publish your key, or get around the limits, for example with several keys;
- reverse-engineer or extract the router, or use Zap! or its output to build or train a competing auto-router;
- resell Zap! or offer it to others as a service without our written agreement;
- attack, overload or security-test the service without our written permission;
- upload files you have no right to, or break any law, including export-control and sanctions laws.
We may limit, suspend or close a key or account that breaks these rules or puts the service or others at risk, at once if needed.
7. Feedback
Feedback is your choice; an AI agent sends it only with your yes to the exact text. You let us use the text and any board pictures you attach to improve Zap!, only as the Privacy page promises, and the improvements are ours. If you email us an edited board file, say whether we may use it; without that written OK we use it only to answer you, then delete it.
8. Paid plans
We plan to offer paid plans through Stripe. Before anything is charged we will publish the prices and terms, and you pay only after choosing a paid plan. Plans, prices and free allowances may change with 14 days' notice (section 11).
9. No warranty, limited liability
As far as the law allows: Zap! and its results are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, including that a routed board will work, meet any standard, or be manufacturable. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including fabrication, component or rework costs, lost profits or delays, and our total liability for all claims about Zap! is at most the greater of US$100 and the amount you paid us for Zap! in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability the law does not allow to be limited.
10. Ending
You may stop at any time and ask us to close your key or account. We may end early access, or close a key or account, with 7 days' notice to the email address we have, or at once under section 6 or when the law requires. We then disable the key and delete remaining files as the Privacy page says. Sections 4, 5, 7 and 9 continue to apply.
11. Law and changes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and the state and federal courts located in Delaware have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about Zap!. If you are a consumer, you keep the mandatory protections of the country where you live.
We may change these terms and post them with a new date. For a change that reduces your rights, changes a price or starts a charge, we give 14 days' notice on zap.mutual.solutions and by email where we have your address. Using Zap! after that means you accept; if you do not, stop and ask us to close your key. No change lets us use boards you sent beyond their job.
